There are numerous similarities between organizations and families. These include hierarchy, structure, relationships, health, meaning and purpose. Individuals are initially exposed to and nurtured by families prior to joining organizations and bringing with them the family experiences.
In today’s culture it is not uncommon to observe abused and neglected individuals from toxic dysfunctional families demonstrating unhealthy coping skills joining toxic unhealthy dysfunctional organizations where they continue to be abused and neglected while re-adapting their unhealthy coping skills through substance use, inappropriate behaviors and depression.
